I keep wanting to say that on May 3rd Aria turned 5. Somehow 6 just seems so surreal to me. But, it is true. She is now 6! And she is an amazing 6 year old. She is doing very well in Kindergarten. She can now read short stories. She LOVES to write. And even though her spelling is very phonetic, she writes clear and concise stories. She will also write love notes for us and leave them lying around. My favorite one was a note she left in Joe's office that says: Daddy, you are doing a good job! She did take her love of writing a bit far and wrote all over her wood room door with permanent marker. That wasn't so cute and Joe had a talk with her. She promised never to do that again.
In addition to being such a great student at school, Aria is continuing to do gymnastics at Do Jump. She loves it and is very good at it. She is quite strong and can swing on her rope for hours. Her hands are callused and her muscles are big. She also does ballet/tap once a week. She really enjoys it and is looking forward to the end of the year recital. She is also a WONDERFUL big sister to Simon. She is patient and caring. They play nicely together and Simon just adores her!For her birthday, Aria asked if we could go camping someplace fun. We decided to go to Silverfalls National Park. It isn't too far from Portland and although the campsites aren't very private, the surrounding areas and scenery are beautiful. It was a bit chilly at night, and we had to burn a fire as soon as we woke up, but Aria says that she was super cozy in the seeping bag we got her for her birthday :) Simon, on the other hand, couldn't care less about camping and spent most his time sitting inside the van reading books. Hopefully he will learn to love camping as much as his sister does.
Happy Birthday Arusia! You are the apple of our eye. Here is to a wonderful and adventurous year!
